Good morning!

Text:  Psalms 77-78

Have you ever gone through a lengthy time of difficulty?  Not just a “rough patch”, but a “rough eon”?   Maybe you are in such a time right now.  The writer of Psalm 77 opens with the idea of a prolonged period of trouble.  Then this:

Then I said, “I will appeal to this,
to the years of the right hand of the Most High.”  (Psalm 77:10)

These words basically say that in the face of a long period of darkness, it is good to recall the times when God has been powerful, present and good.  How has God been good to us?  Here’s one – He sent His one and only Son to die for us.  And the Scriptures are chock full of stories of blessings, rescues, restorations and reunions in Bible times.      God is good and He is a God of deliverance… and always has been.  When we look back from a difficult place and remind ourselves of God’s history, we are reminded of His unchanging character, His steadfast love, and His promises.  And when we do, the awe returns, the darkness fades, and our hope reappears.

in Him, Mike
