Text: Romans 11 (1 Samuel 17-18)
In Romans 11, we find assurance that in the age of the New Covenant, God has not forgotten His chosen people, Israel. With the arrival of Jesus, it might seem that God has left them behind. But…
For the gifts and the calling of God are irrevocable. (Romans 11:28)
This is good news for the people of the tribe of Israel and also Good News for us. It is God’s nature to be faithful to keep His Word and His every promise. God has given us as Christians the free gift of forgiveness of sins and eternal life in Christ. He has given us the gift of the indwelling Holy Spirit. He has called us to a new life in Jesus, and given us a “calling” – God’s commandment on our lives to follow Jesus. Neither these gifts nor His calling can ever be revoked. They are ours forever. Nothing can ever take our salvation or God’s presence away from us. And nothing can ever negate our relationship with the Lord nor His purpose for our lives. Now, that is some kind of security!
in Him, Mike
