Text: Psalms 50-52
Psalm 51 is David’s beautiful poem of confession as he surrenders his sin to the Lord. Consider verse 6:
Behold, you delight in truth in the inward being…
We know that the gateway to mercy, the portal for grace, is opened when we confess our sin to the Lord. When we confess, he forgives – every time (John 1:9). Of course, He already knows what we have done and why we did it. He knows every sinful thought word and deed, whether petty or grand. When we confess it, it is our heart and mind that are coming into alignment with the truth which He already knows.
So – the whole point is that we need to actually get honest with ourselves. We need to nurture truth in our “inward being.” And, then we need to bring it out into the light so he can heal it. So – all that said – is there something I am kidding myself about? Am I self deceived that everything is “just fine, thank you” when there is actually some sin in hiding. “Come out, come out wherever you are.”
