“Enlarge the place of your tent,
and let the curtains of your habitations be stretched out;
do not hold back; lengthen your cords
and strengthen your stakes.
Text: Isaiah 52-56; Proverbs 13
Several years ago during our Bible read-through, the words of vision in Isiah 54:2 spoke to me with power:
Imagine with me our personal and local church ministry as it grows. The family increases, so like the nomad’s tent, it must expand. Our “footprint” increases as more people are impacted with the Gospel and as more receive Jesus. “Do not hold back,” the Word says here. Be ambitious, be expectant, be optimistic. “Lengthen your cords.” Release people to serve the Lord, empower them to do as the Lord leads them. “And strengthen your stakes.” Deepen the roots of prayer, of the Word of God and of loving people deeply. Keep Jesus as the cornerstone of all, the firm foundation. I am still excited by this Word. Jesus said, “I will build my church,” and indeed He is. Buckle up!
in Him, Mike
