Text: Psalm 13-15
Psalm 13 begins with words of lament from one who is feeling alone and threatened. There is an honesty here that is refreshing – a reminder that we can always be fully open and honest with the Lord in our prayer life. As the Psalm comes to a close the tone is different – hopeful and optimistic.
I will sing to the Lord,
because he has dealt bountifully with me. (Psalm 13:6)
The truth is that even in the darkest of times, God is good and His promises are sweet. Even in times of deep trouble, He is dealing “bountifully” with those who love Him. How about us this day? Do we sense the bounty of His dealings with us? And how about the singing? Will we sing to the Lord? I think we certainly will. If you are in a dark passage right now, I invite you to imagine God’s people in jubilant song. And imagine your own voice joining in. What a beautiful sound that will be!
