Text: Mark 7 (Exodus 19-20)
In Jesus’ earthly ministry, He demonstrates supernatural power over all sorts of things – illnesses, blindness, storms at sea, demons and more. After the story of Jesus healing a deaf mute, we read this of the people who were there:
And they were astonished beyond measure, saying, “He has done all things well. He even makes the deaf hear and the mute speak.” (Mark 7:37)
All the various miracles He performs are establishing proof that He is indeed the Son of God. They teach us that Jesus has the authority and the ability to deal with anything in our lives that would seem impossible for us to fix. Now we can read of these things and learn that Jesus is great, but for those who actually witnessed and experienced Jesus’ power, they were “astonished beyond measure.” Now that sounds like what we all need a good dose of, doesn’t it? I pray we would come to be “astonished beyond measure” about Jesus as we experience His boundless grace, His endless love and see how He is able to bind up broken hearts, set captives free, and give sight to the blind. Jesus is indeed fully able to do exceedingly abundantly more than we can ask or imagine, and He is actually doing these things today in our lives.
in Him, Mike
