Text: 2 Thessalonians; Isaiah 42
2 Thessalonians 3:13 is short and sweet and a great encouragement:
As for you, brothers, do not grow weary in doing good.
In our busy lives it is easy to get tired. We try to do too much, maybe stay up too late, overdo in one area of life or another. Sometimes, we attempt good things only to be met with failure, frustration and fatigue. Sometimes, our “get up and go got up and went,” and just sitting on the couch seems the best possible thing. The words of this verse are great for me to hear. It does not say to not grow weary, it only says to not grow weary in doing good. It calls out priorities. What am I doing that is draining energy that is not good? Quit it! What am I doing too much of that I get too tired to do good? Quit it! What am I thinking that would lead me to give up, claiming I was too tired. Quit that, too. Lean in. Stay strong. Get enough rest. Eat right. Exercise regularly. Stay fit. And do good. Only good. Lots of good. So that He might be glorified!
in Him, Mike
