Today is a reflection day.
Daniel is quite the prayer warrior. He is committed to prayer, even to his own peril (it got him thrown into the lions’ den). His prayer recorded in Daniel 9 is a powerful example for us all. These words caught an underline in my Bible:
When Daniel knew that the document had been signed, he went to his house where he had windows in his upper chamber open toward Jerusalem. He got down on his knees three times a day and prayed and gave thanks before his God, as he had done previously. (Daniel 6:10)
It is a subtle nuance, but did you notice that it says that Daniel prayed and also that he gave thanks? Our prayers include praise, confession. thanksgiving and asking God to meet our needs. When we give the Lord thanks we affirm the wonderful relationship He has allowed is to have. He is great, knows all things, is all powerful and has everything we need. And He loves us so… all that we have comes from Him. When we thank Him we express our understanding that we are helpless, weak and needy and that He is powerful, good and kind. To give thanks is to say it. May we ever be thankful and may we make sure that we actually speak words of thanks to our God. Happy Thanksgiving tomorrow.
in Him, Mike
