Text: Matthew 4 (Genesis 6-7)
As Jesus began His earthy ministry to people, his opening line was powerful:
From that time Jesus began to preach, saying, “Repent, for the kingdom of heaven is at hand.” (Matthew 4:17)
Jesus, the King of the Kingdom is present, and His command is simple – “repent”. That one word says it all. To repent is to turn, to have a change of heart and mind. To turn is to turn away from one thing in order to face another. For anyone to come to Jesus, they must turn away from sin and turn to face Him. That can mean abandoning one’s entire way of life, one’s life treasures, even one’s own family. But to come to Jesus, turn we must. And when we do, we start a whole new life, one of freedom, abundance, blessings, love and peace. Turn to Jesus and live. I cannot think of a single person who turned to Jesus and was later sorry. Not one.
