Text: Matthew 11 (Genesis 21-22)
Jesus extends to all a beautiful invitation. It begins with these words:
“Come to me, all who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest.” (Matthew 11:28)
Jesus offers us deliverance from all the harsh realities of this life, whether the fatigue and frustrations of work or the dark consequences of evil. He replaces our despair with hope, our sorrow with joy, our tears with laughter. Even the burden of death is relieved as He gives us forever life. His invitation is simple – “Come to me.” That is all it takes to be set free, saved, and to enter His peace and joy. Beyond the simple coming there is the learning from Him and serving Him (check out verses 29-30), but first is the simple coming. Have you? Will you? Come to Jesus.
